About Us

The Importance of Sibling Connections

For many children entering foster care, siblings are their strongest remaining support system. Research consistently shows that maintaining sibling relationships helps children cope with trauma and adjust to new placements.

  • In Minnesota, about 85% of foster children are placed with at least one sibling, meaning sibling placement is a priority when possible.
  • In Hennepin County, roughly 86% of siblings are placed together, though placement limitations sometimes make this difficult.

However, when sibling groups are large or foster homes lack space, brothers and sisters may still be separated.

Why Community Matters

Our mission is to create a supportive community that preserves sibling connections in foster care while providing therapeutic, diagnostic, and recreational services rooted in connection, compassion, and collaboration.

Children in foster care often experience multiple disruptions: changes in home, school, and social support systems. Stable environments and strong community support can make a profound difference in their healing and development.

A foster care village model addresses several of these challenges by:

  • creating homes designed for larger sibling groups
  • providing community support for foster families
  • offering on-site services and therapeutic resources
  • reducing isolation and placement disruptions

By building intentional communities that support both children and caregivers, we can help create greater stability, stronger relationships, and better outcomes for children in foster care.

Our Vision

Our vision includes a secure community design that offers controlled entrance access, community lighting and security.

The community will be centered around a cul-de-sac like design offering stability and privacy across 6 foster homes, each with space to accommodate sibling groups and offering fenced spaces.

Centralized to the cul-de-sac is a Central Community Playground offering inclusive playground equipment, sensory spaces, walking paths that are secure, safe and connected.

Located at the end of the community is a Community Center housing therapy and counseling rooms, meeting and training spaces, recreational spaces and offices as necessary.

Lastly, the village will also include five tiny homes designed for older foster youth to gain independence and stay within close proximity to community and support.
